A beautiful woman marries a rich man for his money, then embarks on an affair and plans to use her boyfriend to help murder her husband.
David is arrested for the savage murder of his lover, Marla Williams, but to the consternation of the assistant district attorney in charge of the case, the district attorney seems strangely reluctant to prosecute, preferring to commit the murderer to a state hospital. Slowly, with the help of the public defender and the court psychiatrist, the sordid facts of the case are revealed: Marla marries millionaire Paul Williams after a whirlwind courtship, but he is unable to satisfy her boundless sexual desires, and she becomes involved in a clandestine affair with David. She plots to dispose of her husband, but she fails and discovers that she loves him after all. She visits David to break off the relationship and discovers that he has been trifling with her love. Unable to bear her taunts, he goes berserk and murders her.
